Boho Weddings in Cornwall: How to plan your boho big day at Boconnion

You’re dreaming of a boho big day, surrounded by florals, friends and food. So, how do you make it happen? Below I’ll give you some advice on how to plan your boho big day at Boconnion.

What is boho?

The popular trend has been around for a while, but what actually is a boho wedding? A bohemian wedding theme is very similar to a rustic one, but with a little more creativity thrown in! Boho weddings often incorporate classic elements such as roses, greenery and candles, and then add their own unique elements in the form of bold colour schemes, dream catchers, hanging decorations, arches bursting with flowers and fringing, and a relaxed vibe.

The dress

When it comes to picking the perfect bohemian wedding dress the possibilities are endless - think lots of lace, pretty beading, draped sleeves and floral accessories. As the theme is so relaxed, most boho brides opt for unstructured wedding dresses paired with a unique head piece, loose curls and minimal makeup. (Psst - you don’t even have to wear shoes if you don’t want to! Adorn your toes and ankles with lots of silver rings and anklets and let your feet speak for themselves!)

Decoration

Incorporate nature every step of the way. Set the mood of rustic romance with florals, greenery and lace. Tables styled with fluffy pampas grass, rustic twine, big bunches of flowers and handwritten place settings always look amazing. A boho wedding is never too busy either, so opt for intricate cake design, loads of lights strung throughout the trees and a marquee bursting with florals. You could even erect a tipi outside for chilling out and winding down, packed with big pillows, miss-matched rugs and soft throws. The original beams in Boconnion’s wedding barn are perfect for hanging glowing lanterns, foliage and sparkling fairy lights too.

Flowers

There are never too many flowers at a boho wedding, and the bigger the better. I love bouquets of colourful dahlias, arches adorned with greenery around the entrance of the newly renovated barn, and flower crowns for both brides and bridesmaids. Incorporate pampas grass and roses into your marquee decoration and make the most of the beautiful magnolia that climbs up the outside of the manor house by pitching the marquee on the Copper Beech Lawn. At Boconnion I work with a hand-picked selection of florists who will be able to turn your boho floral dreams into a reality.

Colour Palette

Depending on the variation of boho that you’re going for, they’ll be a colour palette to match. More earthy tones like creams, reds and golds match an earthy, more natural theme, whilst bright garden colours such as purples, pinks and greens bring a vibrant pop to outdoor and barn weddings at Boconnion. Think lavender, sage green, rust orange, dark teal and blush. Working with a professional wedding stylist can be really useful when planning the colour palette for your boho big day. (I can pair you with one from our list of recommended suppliers here at Boconnion!)

Food

Embrace your boho side and get creative when it comes to catering. Food platters, charcuterie boards and piles of fruit salad add colour and texture to your tables. The lawns at Boconnion are perfect for alfresco eating at long outside tables and we recommend choosing one of our recommended quirky caterers, food vans or indie chefs for a relaxed, unique vibe on your big day. I especially love mix and match plates, vintage cutlery, crystal-cut glasses, diverse canapés and ice cubes with edible flowers frozen inside! It’s the little things that’ll make your wedding day truly individual and beautifully boho.

Why Boconnion?

The very essence of the bohemian lifestyle is one of nature, peace and beauty. The Boconnion estate offers a blank canvas for your special day, surrounded by ancient trees, free open spaces, natural rolling gardens, rustic barns and colourful wild flowers. If you can dream it, we can make it happen. Hang out by the pool during beachy boho weddings, capture magical photographs in the estate’s woodland (that’ll perfectly match your gyspy boho theme) or decorate the Georgian manor house to compliment a vintage boho style. Whichever option you choose, I can show you how to plan your perfect boho big day at Boconnion.
